Literary Characters Social Networking
Students in Linda Vasu's Humanities classes chose a character from one of the second semester novels: Siddhartha, Haruoun and the Sea of Stories, Keeping Corner, My Brother Sam is Dead, A Separate Peace. They fleshed out a profile for their chosen character on our social networking site with images, blog entries, and multimedia files.

The Siddhartha Cinquain Poems represent the integration of the Humanities and Music Curriculum with Linda Vasu and David Gordon. Utilizing the vocabulary from the book, Siddhartha, students composed their own poems and accompanied them with original music using the performance concepts of vocal technique, instrumental improvisation, form, tempo, and dynamics.

In Linda Vasu's Humanities classes, students read and deconstructed Thing Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. They worked in groups to analyze characters, setting, cultural artifacts and customs, narrative structures and literary motifs from the story and published their findings on a Wiki.

Students in Heather Denbow's Social Sciences classes were assigned a country in Africa. They were responsible for researching political, economic, historical, and geographical information.

Students used their Academic Enrichment periods to collaborate on an integrated project. They created a boardgame for the novel The Wind Singer as a final assessment.

Sabrina Goldberg's math students presented their research projects to the community. Students learned about great mathematicians throughout history, wrote a paper, and shared information via posterboards, models, and props.
