Our application process for the 2009-2010 school year begins on September 3, 2008, a year before a family would like to enroll a child at The School at Columbia. Because of our unique program, we have a somewhat different application process for families affiliated with Columbia University and Community families not affiliated with the University. Kindly read more about the details of both application processes.
The School at Columbia follows the New York City Public School’s calendar for birthday cutoffs. Students applying to Kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year must turn five by December 31, 2009. We do not require any educational testing (ERB etc) for admission, nor do we have an application fee.
In past years, The School at Columbia has given preference to children applying to kindergarten who are siblings of currently enrolled students. Given the limited number of available openings at other grade levels, and our commitment to an inclusive, open community, we have not had a policy of extending this consideration to siblings applying to other grades at The School. Our policy has also not given preference in admissions at any grade level to the siblings of students that have graduated or left The School.
Any questions about our admissions process and policies should be addressed to our Director of Enrollment, Rekha Sharma Puri at 212-851-4220, or the Office of the University Provost.
